Nutritionists Attempt to Censor Dissent, Protect Corporate Sponsors

February 22, 2017 by Russ Greene

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has attempted to censor exposure of the junk food funding behind a candidate for its presidency. First the AND told a member to take down a tweet disclosing the candidate’s connections to industry. When that email was quoted in a blog post, multiple complaints were filed requesting that it be taken down. None of the efforts succeeded. In fact, these efforts backfired by drawing greater attention to the unholy alliance between nutritionists and the junk food […]

February 21, 2017 by Russ Greene

We just unearthed this gem from 2013: Fitness guru Jake Steinfeld has been traveling the country on his mission to end childhood obesity. ILSI Denies Infant Nutrition Efforts Despite Engaging In Them

February 10, 2017 by Russ Greene

On Feb. 6 we covered the latest “twist” in the Tim Noakes saga: South Africa’s Medical Research Council has disavowed its ties to expert witness Ali Dhansay’s testimony, closed his research unit, and promised to investigate his ties to the junk food industry. And the MRC’s decision seems to have come in response to the original findings published right here on the Russells’ blog last month, which linked Dhansay and other Noakes opponents to the Coca-Cola proxy, the International Life […]

Expert Witness Against Noakes to Undergo Investigation for ILSI Ties

February 6, 2017 by Russ Greene

The former president of a soda proxy organization in South Africa will undergo an investigation concerning his ties to the sugar and soda industries. It is another episode in a chain of Coca-Cola / International Life Sciences Institute scandals affecting the National Institutes of Health, UC San Diego, World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the United Nations. Last month we released our report on the trial against Dr. Tim Noakes in South Africa. Noakes is at risk of losing his medical license […]
